European’s leading indirect procurement event

ProcureCon Indirect is now in its 4th year and being commonly recognised by the industry, it is an event where CPOs and Heads of Indirect Procurement of big corporations with mature procurement practices present their case studies and share successful solutions.

ProcureCon Indirect 2009 was attended by over 130 CPOs and Heads of Indirect Procurement from companies such as Xerox, Johnson & Johnson, Nokia, Corus, L’Oreal, Philip Morris, Carlsberg. The discussions are based on hard evidence, which helped attendees to gain tactical insights and open doors for formal and informal business relationships whilst benchmarking against the industry leaders. Here are some highlights of ProcureCon Indirect 2009:

a. Structured “Speed” Networking: Structured “speed” networking ensured delegates made plenty of new key contacts. This was an exciting, quick and easy way to meet fellow conference delegates and industry peers in one 30 minute session. These brief meetings were the starting point for valuable conversation and networking throughout the conference. This is where long lasting and profitable business relationships began.

b. CPO Think Tank hosted by Ralf Garczorz, CPO, Johnson & Johnson: CPO Think Thank was a series of interactive discussions CPOs and Heads of Indirect Procurement to network with peers, to share their success stories and key challenges in niche areas that concern them most, and learn how others have overcome procurement’s fundamental issues. The content of this think tank is always developed and shaped by the participants.

c. Interactive Roundtables: Outsourcing and Category Management Roundtables were series of interactive discussions over 2 separate days, allowing delegates to participate in high-level discussions with peers, industry experts and solution providers on key outsourcing issues and category buying of key indirect spend areas. They shared success stories and key challenges, and learnt how others have overcome outsourcing and category management problems and issues. These were off the record discussions which allowed sharing best practice with peers and competitors.

d. Most anticipated session at the conference: Interactive Voting Panel on “Building Blocks Today for the Strategic Procurement Organisation of Tomorrow – Building Competencies and Skill Sets For Short and Long-Term Trends” with Ken Syme, Chief Procurement Officer, Xerox and Carlo Aversa, Senior Vice President Global Sourcing, Alstom, in Day 1 at 11.25.

e. Most anticipated speaker of the conference: Mikko Kivisto, Vice President, Indirect Sourcing, NOKIA who presented a case study on Day 1 at 12:00 on “Nokia Indirect Soucing - From Growth to Downturn: Managing the Change of Focus”.
