Originally opened in 1912, the Hotel Astoria is ideally located in the centre of St Petersburg overlooking the landmark St Isaac’s Cathedral and within easy walking distance of the world famous Hermitage Museum and Mariinsky Theatre (formerly Kirov). The hotel underwent a complete refurbishment in 2002 and now features contemporary design, original antiques and personalised service, combining to create a charming and welcoming atmosphere. The Astoria is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

The hotel is centrally located next to the landmark St Isaac’s Cathedral and is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful city. St Petersburg was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great and built on the River Neva delta on the Gulf of Finland, interspersed with picturesque canals. Many of the main attractions are within walking distance of the hotel, such as the famous Hermitage Museum and some of the 150 palaces, churches and gardens. In early summer the "White Nights" are a popular attraction, whilst the scenic winter period offers the renowned Mariinsky (formerly Kirov) ballet and opera.

Borsalino Restaurant

This is a good restaurant located in the "Angleterre" Hotel, opposite St. Isaac’s Cathedral. About 2 years ago, it was newly designed as a meeting point restaurant with a bar in the middle of the main hall for up to 150 people. There are separate compartments along the walls as well as tables. There is also a vestibule at the entrance for aperitifs. The interior is elegant and the service excellent, with Russian and European dishes offered. There is live music in the evenings.

Dvorjanskoye Gnezdo (‘The Noble Nest’)

This is arguably the most exclusive and beautiful restaurant in the city. It is situated in a beautiful restored pavilion from the 18th century, previous owners include the Yusupov family, and is just a few minutes’ walk away from Mariinsky Theater. Cuisine is European, superbly prepared and presented, and served in a very elegant and rather formal atmosphere. This restaurant offers an expensive but memorable dining experience. Excellent service. In 2001 The Noble Nest was awarded the "deluxe" category.

This restaurant, situated in a 18th century-building on Nevsky Prospect, always attracts the high society of St. Petersburg. A unique location, this restaurant is on a floating platform and has transparent walls, which allow for views of the Neva. On the first floor you will find a fusion cuisine restaurant, and on the 2nd floor a Mediterranean restaurant. Items on the menu include: Malaysian carpaccio of beef with Reggiano parmesan, Miso soup with foie gras ‘poststickers’ and carrots. Extensive wine list. Easy listening music. The restaurant is moored on the Petrograd side of Birshevoy Bridge.

This is an excellent restaurant on the opposite bank of the Neva River from the Hermitage. Although seating about 200 guests in the large dining room, the atmosphere is cozy with dim lighting, wooden furniture and tapestries. Live Jazz music in the evening. A very stylish new Japanese restaurant with very delicious food. The designers decided to give the key role in the interior to the representation of the Japanese nature . Another starting point was an association with the volcano on Fujiyama -mountain. It conditioned the usage of natural materials: stone, wood, bamboo, and rice-paper.
