| In 1993, Audi factory site in Győr commenced operations, producing 2,000 engines with around 80 employees. Since then, Audihas developed Győr into the premier car-making hub in Hungary. At present, it employs more than 8,000 employees and has bceoms one of the country’s highest revenue generating enterprises. The factory site at Győr consists of an engine plant and vehicle assembly line. The engine plant in Győr is the principal engine supplier of the Audi Group and is the EU’s largest engine manufacturing plant. The plant also delivers engines to other leading brands of the Volkswagen group such as Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat and Lamborghini. The vehicle assembly line assembles the Audi TT Coupe, TT roadster, RS3 Sportback and A3 Cabriolet in partnership with the Ingolstadt plant in Germany. The factory site has been such a success that Audi is investing more than €900 million to expand the factory site further. Part of the expansion will be the establishment of a complete automotive production line on the newly acquired 200-hectare site at the Győr plant, which is the only one of its kind in Hungary. The automotive production line will be state of the art and fully equipped to ensure the sustainable preservation of resources. It consists of a dry separation system with air recirculation which will reduce the amount of waste air, resulting in a 50% cut in CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the ground-breaking bio membrane technology that will be used reduces the amount of fresh water needed, while minimizing levels of waste water and toxic waste.
