The Defense Logistics awards ceremony has been established to honor, recognize and promote the logisticians in the US Department of Defense and the Defense Industry that have made a significant contribution to military logistics. These logisticians support interoperability and transformation through logistics initiatives/programs/processes.

Winners Announcement:
Awards will be announced and awarded at the Defense Logistics Awards Ceremony on December 1, 2010. The top entries in each category will be denoted as finalists and will be contacted in advance of the awards banquet. Our objective Awards Judging Panel will evaluate and score each application through a transparent process. This panel contains leading experts and practitioners in defense logistics and judging organizations are excluded from judging categories in which they have submitted an application.

The 2009 Awards Judges are:

  • William Horne, President, Council of Logistics Engineering Professionals (CLEP)

The 2009 Awards Ceremony was hosted by US Navy (ret) RADM Michael S. Roesner:

Rear Admiral Michael (Mike) Roesner retired from active naval service in November, 2008 after serving nearly 40 years. During his Navy career, Admiral Roesner served in a variety of assignments from Antarctic expeditions to riverine patrol duty in South Vietnam. He served afloat in surface ships and aircraft carriers and ashore in a wide variety of logistics assignments. Some of his more recent postings included: Commander, Naval Inventory Control Point, where he was responsible for acquisition and management of all Navy managed spare parts, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Fleet Supply and Ordnance, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, with responsibility for the complete logistics support for all Navy and Marine Corps units assigned to the Pacific theater, and Commander, Naval Supply Information Systems Activity, with responsibility for design and maintenance of Navy supply information systems. In these positions, Admiral Roesner held responsibility for multi billion dollar acquisition and operations budgets, thousands of U.S. Military and Civilian employees, foreign military sales and successful logistics support for Naval forces engaged in wartime and training activities. He is a recognized leader in development of Performance Based Logistics Contracts. Admiral Roesner joined IBM in May, 2008 and is an Associate Partner in the Supply Chain Management Practice.

RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES: To be considered for the Defense Logistics Awards, please adhere to the following requirements:

  1. We encourage submissions. You may contact Amol Tembe at 646-200-7442 or atembe@wbresearch.com to discuss questions or concerns regarding your submission prior.
  2. Each entry should include answers to all of the questions on the submission forms. It can either be addressed within the submission form or on a separate sheet of paper. If answer is addressed in another question on the form, simply indicate where.
  3. You are encouraged to include supporting documents, figures, testimonials.
  4. The entries must be received by 11:59pm EST, October 31, 2010. No late entries will be accepted. The contact person listed on the Application Submission Form will be contacted via e-mail upon receipt of your entry.
  5. The Entry must have the name of the program or person as you would like it to appear on any documentation or award should you be selected as a finalist and/or winner
  6. Each category contains multiple questions. We encourage you to answer all questions listed, but if a question is answered in a previous or subsequent section, indicate which section (i.e. Please see question 2 above for answer). If your entry fails to meet the requirements and format noted herewith, we'll attempt to notify you to provide additional materials. The judges and organizer are not obliged to disclose judging decisions, feedback or scores given.
  7. Judging organizations are excluded from judging categories in which they have submitted an application.
