PBL Supply Chain Workshop

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

1:30 Hosted By: PRTM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS, LLC
Driven by the compelling need to have easily deployable, operationally reliable systems, aerospace and defense (A&D) logistics have evolved dramatically over the last 15 years. The emergence of performance-based logistics (PBL) as a leading strategy has provided a valuable partnering approach that has delivered significant operational improvement for the Department of Defense (DoD) and increased profitability for A&D shareholders. Today, extended combat operations and pressure on DoD budgets continue to highlight the potential for industry to support the sustainment operational and affordability needs of the Department of Defense (DoD). However, political insourcing and evolving acquisition policy realities are placing greater pressure on PBL’s to demonstrate affordability and the value that industry is creating. PBL’s future hinges on the ability to evolve and deliver a compelling value proposition to respond to these customer needs.

Looking ahead, sustainment service providers face two significant challenges:

What is the promise and potential of the next generation of PBL? How does the PBL value proposition need to evolve to maintain existing contracts and create PBL growth? How does the Supply Chain need to be constructed to support the next-generation of PBL? What tools and capabilities, such as the Supply Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR®), are needed to build and implement this supply chain?Join your colleagues at the Defense Logistics Conference in an interactive workshop with PRTM Management Consultants to address these critical questions on the future of PBL and the Supply Chain. Hear from industry and government leaders on the evolution of outcome-based logistics throughout the Department of Defense and the Aerospace & Defense community. This three hour workshop will include round-table discussions, analysis and commentary of current developments associated with global sustainment logistics including:
  • Understand how ‘Next Generation PBL’ is evolving within the OSD’s sustainment policy working group
  • Hear industry and government perspectives on the ‘Next Generation’ PBL value proposition
  • Understand the emerging role of the depot as a PBL partner and enabler
  • Hear the latest in exploiting innovation in global sustainment strategies
