12.00 Outlining The Technical Roadmap For An eDiscovery Strategy To Provide A Single Point Of Entry For Users To Find All Requested Information
Frank Konieczny, CTO, US Air Force
The Air Force is in the process of developing an eDiscovery strategy that goes well beyond the legacy mindset of maintaining a catalog of materials that constitute “Official Records.” The challenges include ensuring availability of information to meet mission requirements as well as the statutory requirements of the FOIA and the burgeoning requirements for government organizations to be able to identify and produce all available information that may be pertinent to legal proceedings. In order to find the right technical solution, the Air Force must first conduct an assessment of business and mission processes to determine the best methods for managing the information life-cycle. This ongoing process will focus on mission, statutory, and legal requirements for information availability for all types of information and data. While this approach will target the processes and requirements first, it will ultimately result in a technical solution that provides a single point of entry for users to find all requested information. The solution will also determine the infrastructure and business practices necessary to make certain that information is managed, tagged, and stored properly throughout its lifecycle. Finally, the Air Force’s eDiscovery solution will ensure requested information is exposed immediately, is appropriate in the context of the request, and exhaustive of all AF data repositories.
