Boeing named Greg J. Deiter vice president of its Defense & Government Services (D&GS) division in September 2008. D&GS is an operating division of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems’ Global Services & Support business.
In this role, Deiter leads a 4,400-person workforce providing services for infrastructure support, aviation and logistics, support operations, and managed network and communications; as well as a broad array of other technical services. This includes range services for Ground-based Midcourse Defense; networked technical services such as satellite operations, launch support, and SBInet maintenance; managed network and communications services such as the Boeing Broadband Satellite Network; energy and integrated facilities management for U.S. government customers; and other aviation and logistics services such as field maintenance and modifications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services, contractor logistics support, field services, and fleet support.
Prior to this, Deiter was director of Boeing Service Company since March 2006. In this role, he oversaw system engineering, facility/system maintenance and operations, spacecraft operations support, and logistics support to the U.S. Department of Defense, other U.S. government, and commercial businesses at more than 23 locations worldwide.
Before this, Deiter was the director for Strategy and Business Integration for Boeing International Relations. He was responsible for the creation and execution of a cohesive strategy for integration and expansion of Boeing business efforts in China. Prior to relocating to Beijing, China, Deiter served as the director of operations and chief engineer of Boeing’s Airport Security Programs. In this role, he was responsible for the successful deployment of Explosive Detection Systems and Explosive Trace Detection equipment at more than 400 airports in 207 days.
During his career, Deiter has served in several key leadership roles, most notably as deputy director of Program Integration, Systems Engineering manager and Test and Verification manager for the International Space Station.
Deiter has worked with several Integrated Defense Systems programs, including B-52, V-22, Peacekeeper, B-1B, KC-135 and Air Force One. His experience also includes a two year assignment in finance at Boeing corporate. Deiter received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in systems engineering from the University of Washington.
