Jon Asprey

Jon Asprey

Vice President, Strategic Consulting

Harte-Hanks Trillium Software

Jon is a senior member of the Trillium Data Intelligence and Governance (DIG) Solutions division, where he has overseen the development of key solution deliverables for the financial services market. Jon has over 13 years of experience in information management and data analytics, working for both global consultancies and software vendors and many international Financial Services clients. Working within the field of complex data analytics, assisting clients to optimise business insight, Jon has developed a detailed understanding of the practical challenges inherent in integrating data from disparate systems. Key deliverables from DIG solutions that Jon has engineered are transparent, measure-able and centralized best practices for data quality management in risk reporting and risk-reserve management

Over the last 5 years, Jon has focused exclusively on data quality management and has provided advisory services to clients, defining data quality strategies, building business use-case justifications and plans for data management initiatives within Data Governance and Master Data Management projects. Jon has advised senior business officers at a number of global financial services firms in support of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) initiatives within credit risk. These engagements have developed robust data quality monitoring and governance processes validating inputs to credit risk models and capital reserve calculations. A critical deliverable from these initiatives is a documented ‘corporate action plan’ that engages business and technical teams in a joint solution that addresses regulatory requirements for robust systems that validate “accuracy” and “consistency” of processes and risk components – including on-going measurement and monitoring actions.

Peter Benson

Peter Benson

Executive Director and Chief Technical Officer

Electronic Commerce Code Management Association

Mr. Peter Richard Benson is the Founding and Executive Director of the Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA). This not for profit association was founded in 1999 to develop and promote the implementation of co-operative solutions for the unambiguous exchange of information. Peter is also the General Manger of PiLog USA Inc., a member of an international group of companies providing data quality solutions. Peter has enjoyed a successful career in structured data and pioneered many of the principles governing the distribution of unambiguous language independent data. Peter developed a method for securely updating distributed encrypted databases with usage monitoring using simple email exchange. This was successfully applied to the distribution of the SEC filing index before the release of the EDGAR filing index. Peter subsequently received a British patent in 1992 covering the use of automated email to update distributed databases. From 1994 to 1998 Peter chaired the ANSI committee responsible for the development of EDI standards for product data (ANSI ASC X12E) and Peter was responsible for the design, development and global promotion of the UNSPSC as an international commodity classification for spend analysis and procurement. Most recently, in pursuit of a faster, better and lower cost method for obtaining and validating master data, Peter designed and oversaw the development of the eOTD (ECCMA Open Technical Dictionary), eDRR (ECCMA Data Requirements Registry) and eGOR (ECCMA Global Organization Registry) as open registries of terminology, data requirements and organizations mirrored on the NATO codification system.
Peter is the project leader for ISO 8000 (data quality) and ISO 22745 (open technical dictionaries), he is recognized as an expert on the capture, maintenance and distribution of master data as well as the automatic rendering of high quality multilingual descriptions from master data that are at the heart of today’s ERP applications and the high speed and high relevance search engines.
Peter works to focus international attention on the importance of open metadata and data provenance at the data element level. On the one hand open metadata protects an organization’s rights to their own data and plays a key role in long term data retention, while on the other, data provenance is critical to being able to trace the origin of data and therefore its accuracy and reliability.
