Over 250 delegates attended the 8th annual LogiChem, held in Düsseldorf from 31st March to 2nd April. LogiChem 2009 has firmly established itself as the pillar of the chemical supply chain community. This year’s conference proved that it was more important than ever for international chemical logistics and supply chain directors to come together, learn from each other and develop long-term strategies to overcome the current challenges faced by the market. Over three content-packed days the conference addressed the most current issues such as driving down supply chain costs, inventory management, strategic partnering, increasing efficiency and safeguarding operational continuity Over 40 supply chain directors from the world’s largest chemical companies delivered high-level case-studies on how they are driving supply chain performance in the current climate. Companies featured on this year’s conference programme included BASF, Huntsman, DuPont, Celanese, Akzo Nobel, Clariant and Bayer. LogiChem 2009 once again was chaired by Roger Moore, Supply Chain Manager Europe at Ineo Nova and was supported by the event’s long-standing advisory board of leading chemical practitioners and supply chain experts. LogiChem opened with an intensive pre-conference focus day on demand planning. Through high-level presentations and interactive sessions, delegates learned how to sharpen demand planning techniques, optimise performance and lower crucial supply chain costs. The main conference opened with an exclusive keynote presentation by Robert Blackburn, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Supply Chain Operations at BASF. Mr Blackburn was greeted by a packed audience, all keen to learn how the world’s largest chemical company is maximising supply chain capabilities and improving responsiveness. The conference was complemented by an extensive exhibition of the latest chemical supply chain technology and solution providers from across the globe. This year’s conference boasted more networking opportunities than ever before – from round table discussions, to panel discussions as well as extensive networking breaks. A particular highlight was the programme’s newest addition – speed networking. Over the course of an hour, delegates took part in the fastest and most effective way to get to know each other, exchange business cards and generate new business leads. |
