Vice Admiral Adam Robinson, Surgeon General, U.S. Navy
Vice Admiral Robinson assumed duties as the 36th Surgeon General of the Navy and Chief of the Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery on August 27, 2007. He entered the naval service in 1977 and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, through the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program.
Starting as a medical officer in 1978, Vice Admiral Robinson has held many distinguished positions throughout his medical career in the Navy.
A highly respected leader and commander, Vice Admiral Robinson joins Military Health Management to discuss how Navy medicine is a key component of naval operations and to share key initiatives and strategies to improve the way our Service men and women are provided with medical care.

Dr. Tibbits was inducted into Senior Executive Service in February 2004, appointed Deputy Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Development for Department of Veterans Affairs on 7 December 2006. Dr. Tibbits is currently on assignment as Chairman, Transformation-21 Work Group to set in place the IT organization, processes, projects, and knowledge management tools necessary to prepare VA to opeate in the 21st century. Dr. Tibbits served in DoD as Director of the Business Management and Modernization Program and Transformation Support Office until September 2005, and stood up and served as Deputy Director of Military Health System Office of Transformation, representing Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs).

The JTMN implementation team developed a system that involved a satellite communications capability that used very small aperture terminals with sufficient bandwidth to transmit critical medical data and images. The team successfully achieved initial operational capability for the system in March 2009 and since then has been working to expand and improve the system. Now, deployed medical personnel can transmit 250 megabit digital X-Ray or CT scan images within about 5 minutes via JTMN.
