Citi’s Andres Wolberg-Stok on ‘Couch Commerce’ & Tablet Transactions
Mobile banking today is not exactly what banks thought it would be when they set out to create what they thought their customers wanted. “The notion that these services were only going to be used on the go was a bit of an illusion,” said Andres Wolberg-Stok, SVP of Mobile and Emerging Technologies Strategy Lead, Citi. “Why would you get up and go use your desktop computer or laptop, when you can just do it from your couch?” This is just one of the revelations Wolberg-Stok and his colleagues have come to over their years of studying mobile banking trends. In this podcast, he also discusses the difference between mobile phones and tablets – a huge area of opportunity for banks, he says, particularly through the utilization of imagery.

Jeff Dennes, Huntington, Proves that Financial Companies can Dream Big & Innovate
Have you ever seen those commercials for mobile banking where you hold your check to your phone, take a picture, and voila, you pay your bills? In the below podcast, we talk to the man behind that idea; Jeff Dennes, SVP Chief Digital Officer, Huntington National Bank. When Dennes came up with this concept, he had no idea what a huge success it would be – but today he’s working to make people understand the kind of value this type of feature creates. He thinks that before long, any consumer hesitation to do mobile banking will disappear as they realize the unparalleled convenience. “The soccer mom may not recognize that while they’re sitting on the soccer bench and their kid is not playing, they could actually pay most of their bills,” said Dennes. With the adoption of smartphones outpacing sales of any other mobile phones, Dennes thinks this will happen naturally. Listen to more here.

In the below podcast, Jesse Torres, the bank's president and CEO, talks about how the company is using social media and digital marketing to carve its niche and build brand loyalty. He admits that he can't compete with the big banks in terms of reach and customer service, but he can connect with his customers on a more personal, engaging level. Torres also recently penned a book about HR and social media. Hear his advice on how HR should use and not use it during the hiring process.
