Ann Bartlett is an expert in balancing traditional, non-traditional, and lifestyle health choices to manage her own health. She has been a practicing massage therapist for 24 years for clients ranging from terminally ill to professional and world-class athletes and is owner of the Body in Balance Center, an integrated wellness practice in Alexandria, VA. Ms. Bartlett has lived with juvenile diabetes since she was 5 years old. Her father was a founding board member of JDRF. A pilot for TWA, he used his international travels to find Type 1 researchers from around the globe and engage them in collaborative sharing. He successfully fostered relationships in London, TeleViv and Milan and helped create the first international Type 1 diabetes symposium in the mid 70s. As a result of her parents’ efforts, Ann developed a sense of responsibility for her diabetes care and a love for understanding the body in health and illness. Ann sees the challenges of living with diabetes as a gigantic puzzle for which lifestyle, management and research give clues for fitting the pieces together and keeping her engaged in her long-term health and happiness. Ann is a former board member of JDRF Capitol Chapter having served 6 years as outreach chair and research information volunteer. Ann has been a patient expert for healthcentral.com for 4 years and served as the community leader for type 1 diabetes on healthcentral.com. Ann has been speaking at healthcare industry conferences and patient conferences. Ann also serves as a consultant for Sanofi US diabetes.

In this capacity, Philippe supports strategic initiatives to improve patient safety, and all medical and operational aspects of pharmacovigilance globally. Philippe brings over 20 years of global experience in Pharma Marketing and Business Development with increasing roles of responsibility from such companies as Eli Lilly, Novo-Nordisk, Immunomedics and Bench International. Through his tenure in these companies, Philippe gained expertise in a number of therapeutic sectors such as oncology, immunology, diabetes care, and medical devices and diagnostics. With Immunomedics in particular, Philippe acted as managing director, Europe and vice-president of global business development. He created their BioPharm European affiliate from scratch building a multi-million dollar organization and secured many multi-million dollar long-term deals. Philippe graduated Magna Cum Laude (1st in his class) with a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Liege, majoring in Histology, Physiology and Biochemistry. Philippe earned his Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and completed his Master Black Belt Training with Johnson & Johnson. He is also the recipient of four Standards of Leadership Awards within Johnson & Johnson.

Mr. Kukla joined Purdue Pharma L.P. as a Sales Representative in Syracuse, New York in May 1983. During his tenure in the Field Sales group, Tom achieved the following positions: District Field Trainer, Senior Medical Marketing Representative, Product Specialist (1989-1991), and membership in Purdue’s elite TOPPERs Club. Tom was promoted to District Manager and, under his Leadership, the Syracuse District achieved consistent sales growth and six Syracuse Sales Representatives were promoted to District Managers and Home Office positions. In July 1998, Mr. Kukla was promoted to Purdue’s Home Office to build and lead the newly created Field Management Development Group. Mr. Kukla currently holds the position of Senior Director, Field Management Development and is a member of a Core Business Executive Team. Tom recently developed and coordinated the Leadership Development curriculum for Sales Management, the DM Advisory Council, and Sales and Marketing. Earlier this year Mr. Kukla coordinated the Launch Meeting for Purdue’s newest product. In his current position, Tom works directly with Sales Management, Sales Training, Sales Operations, Compliance, and Marketing, Mr. Kukla holds a Degree in Biology from the SUNY at Oswego.

Harley's personal coverage areas include interaction design, online branding, persona development, design agencies, and user experience reviews. Harley came to Forrester in 1998 after spending 18 years designing and building interactive services for companies such as Dow Jones, AT&T, MCI, Prodigy, and Sears. Most recently, he was at Dow Jones Markets, where he was responsible for international websites targeted at brokers and traders. He was also responsible for the design, hosting, and operation of the Markets' intranet site, which later became the intranet site for all of Dow Jones. Prior to Dow Jones, Harley was at AT&T Labs, where he designed the user experience for projects such as a search engine enhanced with ontologies (two patents awarded), a universal email/telephone/fax message center, and a web-based community calendar. He originally joined AT&T as the creative director of its personal online services group. Harley holds a Master of Science degree in advertising from the University of Illinois, Urbana.

From 2002-2004 A former member of the United States Senior Executive Service, Peter was FDA’s Associate Commissioner for External Relations, serving as senior communications and policy adviser to the Commissioner. He supervised FDA's Office of Public Affairs, Office of the Ombudsman, Office of Special Health Issues, Office of Executive Secretariat, and Advisory Committee Oversight and Management. He served on the agency’s obesity working group and counterfeit drug taskforce and is a Special Government Employee (SGE) consultant to the FDA’s Risk Communications Advisory Committee where he is advising the FDA on regulatory issues in the sphere of social media. Charlotte is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Business and serves on the Advisory Board for the St. Joseph’s University Healthcare Executive MBA program. Charlotte has built and led integrated marketing research, competitive intelligence, strategic forecasting and decision science groups in 6 major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. She established and led the U.S. business for Isis Research Ltd., a global healthcare marketing research firm. Most recently, she was at Shire plc. as Senior Vice President, Business Management, with responsibility for cross-functional corporate initiatives. Her career has spanned over 30 years in the healthcare industry, starting in market research at Pfizer. Charlotte worked for Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Lipton in market research. She also spent 3 years on Wall Street at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as a security analyst for the pharmaceutical industry. She holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business and an AB in French and German from Middlebury College. Charlotte and her husband Leif Magnusson, an attorney, and their two cats live in Berwyn, PA.

Todd N. Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Smith joined Horizon Pharma October 2010 and was named to his current position as executive vice president and chief commercial officer in June 2012. Mr. Smith is responsible for the company’s commercial organization, business development and investor relations. Prior to joining Horizon Pharma, Mr. Smith served as vice president, global marketing, strategy and business development at Fenwal Inc., a global medical device company formed through a TPG financed spin-off from Baxter. Mr. Smith was responsible for Fenwal’s global product portfolio, the company’s strategic planning and business development initiatives. During this time Fenwal launched over 10 products and reignited growth in its core automation businesses.

Todd has nearly 18 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience, holding a succession of senior management roles in sales, marketing and business development at both top 20 pharma companies including Abbott and Bayer as well as ventured backed biotech’s including Agouron and Achillion. As a sales and marketing executive, Mr. Smith has either led or been part of over 12 product launches. He led both sales and marketing activities for the Virology Franchise at Abbott, including the launch of Kaletra tablets (a critical life cycle reformulation), where global sales grew to over $1 billion. In his business development roles he has structured licensing deals, joint ventures and managed alliances regionally and globally. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Norwich University
