NH HOTELS

NH have implemented new change management methods to replace traditional ones regarding environmental policies and have the key step of becoming the first Spanish company to join the prestigious International Tourism Partnership (ITP). This partnership enables the ITP to extend its reach into the rapidly growing spanish-speaking tourism market, whilst adding to their strong commitment to remain a benchmark company in terms of sustainability within the tourism sector.

NH Hotels are committed to reducing their carbon footprint 8 years ahead of the European Union targets with their 2012 Environmental Plan.

In line with this target they have created a new way of working with their suppliers.

They established the NH sustainable club in 2008 with their strategic suppliers, who each pay a joining fee of €15.000. The club encourages suppliers’ cooperation providing "common commitments and solutions" regarding the "development of sustainable products and efficient services to maintain good social and environmental practices”.

  • A well implemented CSR strategy doesn’t just improve the environment and society; it adds value to the business through improved recruitment and retention.

A major achievement was when George headed up the innovative and award winning Project Thomas, outsourcing a print facility in Guildford. • Marc Magistrali - KONE

And the Award went to....

MARC MAGISTRALI, CPO, KONE

The shortage of credit has limited business growth & expansion plans for many organizations, increased the risk of supplier solvency and altogether created a generally risk averse - internally focused (cost reduction only) climate.

Marc Magistrali led the way in building the “risk factor” in supplier qualification, segmentation and management; many measures have been taken to mitigate and plan for these 'obstacles' - fundamentally all processes whether they be strategic (dual source,...) or operational.

Measures that Marc has taken include increased interface with primarily their strategic suppliers through formal and informal channels, expanding supplier quality audit risk parameters as well as creation of an improved Balanced Scorecard system to better Assess Supplier Performance and Diagnose Risk Levels. Their 'Scorecard' is updated on quarterly basis (or more frequently depending on supplier RISK level), whereby key financial and business parameters are analyzed such as Cash Flow, Gearing % and R&D percentage of sales – in an effort to ensure our strategic suppliers maintain a 'healthy' focus on sustainable innovation and growth.
