Elementis Specialties Connects a Global Supply Chain
When Elementis Specialties started looking to expand its global footprint, it was clear that global demand planning tools and cultural change would be necessary in order to connect disparate systems across the chemical supply chain. Gustavo Araujo, Supply Chain Director, had to guide his team through the challenges that come with implementing a new global system. The company is still transitioning into this platform and learning how to align the supply chain so that all parts of the process are optimized.

Listen to this podcast to hear him discusses in detail how Elementis is working toward better alignment across the supply chain. He will speak further on this topic at the SCMchem conference.

Peter Murray from DuPont talks about sustainability of products delving into the supply chain issues of sustainability at the conference.
As one of his company’s core values, sustainability is not new to Peter Murray, Global Supply Chain Development Leader at DuPont. The issue is getting lots of attention across industry, so DuPont is addressing it by ensuring the company is using renewable resources whenever possible and encouraging eco-friendly behavior internally and to its suppliers. Of course there are inherent challenges that come with selling some on sustainability, but DuPont has managed to implement sustainable practices in most areas fairly seamlessly.

Roger Yackel from Rhodia
At Rhodia, the forward focus is on growth and driving operational excellence through total productive maintenance. Roger Yackel is driving that effort with an effort to update equipment and integrate logistics equipment planning through all supply chain planning. “The more that can be done to understand customer forecasts followed by monitoring customer inventories themselves, the better,” said Yackel, Director of Supply Chain. Using mathematical models and highly competent people for fleet sizing and scenario planning, Rhodia is better reacting to changes in demand. Hear Roger talk about these issues in the below podcast and in further detail at SCMchem in Dallas this November.

Patrick Bian, Cabot Corporation
The old cumbersome process of sending dozens of e-mails with complicated spreadsheets for freight tenders in chemical supply chains is a thing of the past. Many companies are transitioning to a more effective business model that utilizes e-sourcing platforms to optimize and organize bids and mitigate risk. With these tools companies can simultaneously collect all quotes and provide feedback so that supply chain objectives can be defined upfront. Patrick Bian, Global Logistics Director for Cabot Corporation, discusses this topic and gives examples of how these new tools help manage logistics of the supply chain such as carrier management and also assist in the negotiation process. Here him talk in the below podcast and again at SCMchem, November 8-10, 2010 in Dallas.
