Who is attending Soldier Technology and why? |
Right now, soldier programme managers from NATO nations including UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the US are preparing to use Soldier Technology to source suppliers specialising in optronics for the future soldier.
This is the best opportunity of the year to discover what they are thinking and to show them how you can help.

What the military have told us they want: |
The feedback we received from MoD soldier programme managers during our research for Soldier Technology and onsite at January’s event in Arlington, USA, shows that:

| The military want greater visibility on innovative optronic technologies from a more diverse array of possible providers - especially when these providers are able to demonstrate the advantages of their technology from existing commercial and / or military applications.
There is increasing urgency to accelerate the incorporation of innovative technologies to theatre by engaging directly with smaller vendors. |
The Case for Soldier Technology UK |
The UK is taking a systematic approach to the acquisition of capability for the soldier system by:

| Capturing the capability required in a more succinct and usable format through a comprehensive Capability Plan owned by CAP GM and DINF. R&D Goals should flow directly from this plan.
Undertaking more of the Operational Analysis at a Soldier System level – the platoon. This will allow a direct comparison of capabilities across the soldier system in order that a better Balance of Investment can be achieved – limited resources giving optimal delivery of ‘bang for buck’.

The How System Integrators are Responding |
The optronics market is developing rapidly, with recent market research from Frost and Sullivan estimating its value at around $30.77 billion over 2010-16. Additionally, emerging economics including India, Brazil and South Korea involved in fleet modernization processes are driving demand for navigation and surveillance equipment for reconnaissance and armed personnel vehicles. So even the largest system integrators know that they can’t afford to ignore the progress being made beyond their own R&D labs and they are now actively seeking partnerships with innovative companies who could benefit from their vast experience of developing capabilities for the military and support them in doing so.
