the society for life cycle economy and life cycle effectiveness!
SOLE, a Scandinavian society with approx. 100 members is working to encourage increased knowledge within the areas of reliability, maintenance and engineering logistics and their importance for safety and profitability. The society emphasizes the importance of taking care of all these areas in each life cycle phase and that the product itself along with its support system are approached as a total system.

The Research Institute for Operations Management (Forschungsinstitut für Rationalisierung; FIR) is an independent research service provider at Aachen University with more than 50 years of experience in developing and applying methods for the enhancement of economic and industrial growth. We are a member of the AiF and have 130 member companies and associations with more than 50,000 associated companies. In our research departments production management, service management, information management and several interdepartmental practices, our 70 permanent employees and a further 70 academic and student assistants design the operations management in the company of the future.
For nearly 30 years the NVSM promotes knowledge, skills and possibilities of experts in the field of service management.
The activities aim especially and mainly at exchanging and profounding knowledge and the experience between executives with expertise of service attribution in the broadest sense of the word.
Service management contributes to the use value of technical equipment in an important way. The NVSM aims at the whole industrial sector; from hospital equipment to vending machines for drinks and from computer networks to tractions. Approximately 300 NVSM members manage a couple of thousand of service engineers and represent approximately a 250 different companies.
