Jesper is the President and CEO of our new Tokyo office, Tantallon Research Japan KK.

Jesper has been researching and investing in Japan since becoming a resident in 1986. For the past eight years he was the Chief Economist of Merrill Lynch Japan. Prior to that, he had worked for the Tiger Fund. He was also the head of research for JP Morgan in Tokyo (1994-1998) and the chief economist of SG Warburg (1989-1994). His analysis and insights have earned him a spot on several Japanese government advisory committees. He is also one of the few non-Japanese members of the Keizai Doyukai, the Japan Association of Corporate Executives.

He has a masters degree from SAIS The Johns Hopkins University and was a research fellow at both Tokyo University and Kyoto University. He is a graduate of the Lester B.Pearsn College of the Pacific.

ROBIN GRIFFITHS joined Cazenove in 2008 and is responsible for the day to day management of the Cazenove Worldwide Absolute Return Fund (CWARF). For over 30 years Robin Griffiths has been one of the most respected technical analysts of world stock markets, bonds, currencies and commodities. He became a technical analyst with WI Carr, based first in Hong Kong and then Tokyo before returning to London. During this time he started to develop his own trading system, analysing stock and market trends. He was then chief technical strategist with HSBC for over 20 years. His most recent position was as Head of Asset Allocation with Rathbones.

He has been an advisor to the ECU fund, a hedge fund using technical analysis to capture movements in currencies since 1985 and latterly to the Rathpeacon fund, a long short equity fund concentrating on the largest 500 companies in the world by market capitalisation. This hedge fund has historically produced good returns with low levels of volatility and correlation. CWARF will now be managed using Robin's work, an approach we believe CWARF shareholders will find profitable.

Tony Mackay is Chief Executive Officer of Chi-X Global Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of global securities firm and Nomura Holdings, Inc. subsidiary Instinet. Kazu Ooki is Regional Head of Sales for ICAP Electronic Broking‘s FX Division in Japan and Korea and has also been the representative director for the EBS Dealing Resources’ Japan subsidiary since April 1999.

Ooki joined Citicorp/Quotron as Sales Executive of Quotron FX Trader in 1991 and was responsible for the successful launch of the new product in Japan.

He was responsible for the MINEX/EBS integration project in 1996, which resulted in an increase in EBS’ USD/JPY market share from 10% to 42% in just two months. From 1997 to 2000, he held the position of Senior Relationship Manager for EBS Japan, responsible for expanding both customer base and trading volume.

In 2002, Ooki was appointed Regional Sales Manager for EBS in Japan. In 2005 his remit was extended to include Korea and most recently he has been responsible for the recently signed strategic alliance with Korean Money Brokerage.

Ooki has been a member of the Tokyo Foreign Exchange Market Committee since April 2003 and is also the chairperson for the Committee’s sub-committee on public relations.
