Supply Chain Optimized.

Without a doubt, the chemical industry learned a lot about the challenges of a huge and unexpected disruption like Covid-19.

While the challenges in the early days were enormous, the pandemic accelerated adoption of digital enablement, especially among companies slower to embrace and invest in digitalization in the past. It also highlighted areas the industry must focus on to future-proof and risk-proof its supply chains to better prepare for the next unanticipated disruption.

This virtual event features easily accessible presentations, group panels, interviews and Q&A, all available digitally and on-demand. We’ve been putting together industry leading content for over 15 years, and LogiChem has continued to be a valued community partner.

They’re Brave. Bold. Visionary.

The increasing complexity of supply chains and constantly changing government and international regulations demand unobstructed views into all stages of the supply chain, but why does it elude even some of the top players in the industry?

    ·        Making sure you have the organizational structure and talent in place before introducing innovative digital tools.

    ·        Specialized track and trace tools – from RFID to Blockchain -- enable shippers to more easily see and manage all the moving parts of the supply chain 24/7. But why is it so difficult to achieve?

    ·        The challenge of track and trace with 3PLs – how to gain supply chain visibility even when logistics are outsourced.

Hazardous and dual-use chemicals, and specialty chemical intermediates, are vulnerable to theft, sabotage and disruption while in transit. Improving supply chain transparency is a high priority for companies as consumers and regulators are pushing for more information on how products are made and transported from the point of manufacture to the point of delivery. Disruptions arising from trade conflicts, natural disasters and pandemic have also rippled through how companies view managing their supply chain and keeping view of it from origin to destination.

    Frederick Ronse, Founder CEO, Ovinto

Ovinto will highlight the blindness that often occurs when your inflow and outflow happens via rail freight, which is especially the case when the trains leave your (production) sites. The main reasons for this are the difficulties in obtaining relevant information and dependence on several external parties. This eventually leads to a lot of inefficient, and unnecessary and costly manual work.

A large proportion of chemicals ship via truck and rail in the U.S., with intermodal solutions being optimized by some. But the U.S. truck driver shortage remains a huge challenge, further compounded by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) new rule requiring truck drivers register with a federal database before they are allowed to change jobs.

Meanwhile rail has its own challenges and limitations, but promises to be a more sustainable solution long term.

Learn more about the tools chemical shippers have in their arsenal to optimize surface transportation and weave in intermodal options to boost on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

It’s a misconception that a company’s digital transformation must wait for a grand corporate strategic plan, which can be paralyzing. Some argue it’s better to start with a small affordable program that could have huge impact if successful, and build from there. If your company is stuck in perpetual digital transformation strategy discussions and is unable to get it fully off the ground, this session is for you.
